The Geneva Forum is an innovative joint venture of a nongovernmental organisation, a United Nations body and an academic institution working together to develop partnerships in the areas of security, arms control and disarmament. We work with governments, the United Nations, specialised international organisations, NGOs and the media on issues ranging from the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons to the prevention of an arms race in outer space.

The Geneva Forum recruits either part-time or full-time Project Assistants (interns) to be based at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. These positions are available on an ongoing basis and may last from 3 to 6 months. The positions are unpaid and do not include support for travel to or accommodation in Geneva.


Responsibilities & Skills

  • Maintaining and further developing our extensive database of disarmament experts.
    • Required Skills: Experience of database management/development (knowledge of Microsoft Access an advantage).
  • Maintaining and further developing our website (www.geneva-forum.org), including updating our online “Media Guide to Disarmament” and "Disarmament Calendar."
    • Required Skills: Experience of website maintenance/development (knowledge of Macromedia Dreamweaver an advantage).
  • Assisting in the planning, organisation and follow-up of our briefings, seminars and conferences.
    • Required Skills: Proficiency in French and English, organisational experience, good communication skills.
  • Preparing reports of meetings and conducting background research as required.
    • Required Skills: Background in international relations/organisations, good knowledge of international security, disarmament and arms control issues and debates.
